We are getting disturbing images and video footage of Africans, including diplomats, subjected to racially motivated discrimination and abuse by some Chinese nationals and institutions in mainland China! I am sure you agree with me and many others that this is unacceptable. Solidarity is at the heart of the global fight against the COVID-19, as you rightfully said, to which the world responded positively.
You stood against such form of racism when two French doctors said future COVID-19 vaccines should be tried first on Africans. You stood firm against it and the world listened to you and stood by you!
You also held your ground and persisted when the most powerful leader in the world, Donald Trump, kept trying to pin his failures to handle the virus on you, China and the WHO. Again, most of the world and all of Africa stood by you, rightly!
Now, we need you to stand by us, Africans, against this despicable act of pure racism meted out by Chinese nationals and institutions in mainland China, and call an end to it immediately!
It is time you called out what is happening in mainland China and called an end to it!
